About the Caucus

The House Republican Caucus leads the Virginia House of Delegates, which, along with the Virginia Senate, makes up the Virginia General Assembly.

Caucus Leadership

William J. Howell (R-Stafford), 54th Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, leads the House and the Republican Caucus. The Caucus’ elected leadership team also includes Caucus Chair Tim Hugo (R-Clifton), Majority Leader Morgan Griffith (R-Salem), and Majority Whip Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights).

Caucus Membership

In the 2010 Session of the General Assembly, the House Republican Caucus has 61 members, including 12 first elected in the November 2009 election and 2 elected in Special Elections in June 2010. Del. Roxann Robinson (District 27) succeeded former Delegate Sam Nixon and Del. Tony Wilt (District 26) succeeded former Delegate Matt Lohr. Nixon and Lohr resigned from the House after the 2010 legislative session to accept positions in the McDonnell administration.
